Blocked drains in Bardon
Bardon is mostly pre-war timber on sloping blocks, and the slope is what changes the plumbing. A lot of the drainage runs downhill under the house rather than out to the street the short way, which means a blockage is often a long way from the nearest access point. We carry enough hose to reach it rather than cutting a new access because it is faster.
The other Bardon-specific thing is galvanised supply pipe. Plenty of houses up here still have runs of it behind the walls, and it is the usual answer when someone tells us their water pressure has been dropping for years.
Slab leaks on the newer builds
The infill builds along the ridge are slab-on-ground, and those are where we do most of our thermal detection work in this suburb. A slab leak in a house on a slope shows up as a warm patch a long way from where the pipe actually failed.
